Autumn Fern

Dryopteris erythrosora

Other names: Japanese wood fern, copper shield fern

A great shade plant, the autumn fern is hardy and grows well here in zone 7 in northern Georgia. Slow growing but reliable, it stayed green all winter. Younger fronds will be copper-red. As they mature, they turn darker green.

Plant in shade. Propagate in the spring by separating small crowns from the larger crown, or by spores.
